What is the best (and cheapest) way to travel from Seoul to China (Shanghai - Beijing)?

I am currently in Seoul have about two weeks to travel to China at the end of June. I plan to go to Shanghai and Beijing and would like advice on the cheapest way to travel from Seoul-Shanghai-Beijing-Seoul with such short notice.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions about "what to do" in any of the three cities, I would really appreciate the advice!

Hi there!
Im in Seoul, and went to Shanghai for my birthday in March, managed to get a return ticket for 199,000.
That doesnt include tax or your visa. You will need to apply for your visa in advance, the company that I traveled with organised that for me, otherwise you can go to Myeong Dong where the Chinese embassy is.

Beijing is actually closer than Shanghai, so if you are wanting to go 'really thrifty' it might work out cheaper for you to go from Seoul - Beijing - Shanghai - Seoul.
However the ticket I took was a 'tour ticket' however I didnt actually have to be a part of any tour, just did my own thing. Some of the tickets have regulations as to how long you can use it. Some as short as 4 days, others a bit longer.

There is also the ferry to China, however it doesnt go to either Beijing or Shanghai, but you might want to look into that to see if its more feasible for you, and then travel by bus to Beijing etc.

I havent been to Beijing, so I cant tell you much about that..
I love Shanghai, its a great place, im not sure if you are wanting to party, look around, shop…. but its all there, and it's a lot more fun than Seoul! Dont get me wrong I love Seoul, but Shanghai just has this special feeling about it. If you want it to be it can be a LOT cheaper than Korea, or it can be a LOT more expensive too… depending on what you do.
In Shanghai I really recommend a foot massage, its great after a day of shopping, or a night of dancing, and wont set you back much more than 20,000won for 3 hours! 1.5 hour foot massage, 1.5hr full body massage. Really nice place, and they feed you really good dumplings and noodles!

HMm gone on a bit here, feel free to message me, and I'll give you my travel agents site.
